THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SOLD.
This landmark vehicle, a 1995 GMC Suburban that has been highly customized and raved about for years by everyone who has seen it, was valued at over $100,000. The vehicle features an amazing PPG Harlequin aka “Chameleon”, ” iridescent” or “Color Changing” paint job and an audio and video system that will amaze anyone who sets their eyes on it. The build, designed to function similar to a limousine should you want to use it in that fashion, has a heavily customized exterior and passenger compartment with a lightly modified driver’s area. We have used this vehicle for parades, car shows, school events and many charity events over the years. With the addition of a microphone, it has also worked well as a PA system at events.
Paint
The incredible paint job, including the full exterior, roof, door jambs, subwoofer enclosure baffles, speaker rings, speaker baffle and matching inserts on the wheels is from is the PPG Harlequin line, part of PPG’s Vibrance collection. The paint code is VM4989, Green to Purple. The VM4989 was sprayed over base of Laguna Green Metallic, also from PPG, color #5225. It was painted by the best painter I know, Steve T. and was done at Scott’s Body Shop in Mapleton, MN. Scott’s has always been fantastic to work with! At today’s prices, the paint job alone would run about $30,000!
Exterior Upgrades
The exterior modifications include 24” VCT Escobar chrome wheels with Falken Ziex ST/Z04 295/35/24 tires. The wheels have custom painted inserts to match the rest of the vehicle. The tires have less than 2,000 miles on them. Fender flares were added. The rear bumper was removed and a roll pan was welded in place. The front bumper was replaced with a custom version. A rear spoiler was added to the roof. The entire front fascia/grill was replaced with a custom fiberglass version. New corner lights were installed in the front fascia and Altezza style lights were installed in the rear. New fog lights with new bulbs were installed in front. New Xenon style high output halogen bulbs were installed for the low beams, high beams and fog lights. A Beltech lowering kit was installed. A Gibson exhaust system replaced the original. Underneath the truck resides 6 custom made true neon glass tubes in green to blue, green to purple and purple to blue hues along with two Liteglow ProSeries 9000V transformers. Also residing underneath is the 120V AC for plug in charging capability. Undercoating has been applied to select areas under the vehicle.
Under the Hood
Under the hood resides an upgraded alternator with a reduced pulley size for improved low RPM performance and a Stinger SP1700 battery. All of the power wires are 1/0 awg OFC copper from Stinger electronics. Upgrades have been made for the battery, alternator and ground wires. Proper fusing has been installed. Several components to the alarm/remote start also reside under the hood.
Interior Customization
The front interior section (front row seating area) has new carpeting, a Sony XAV-651BT double DIN Bluetooth audio video deck in the dash board installed using a Metra DP-3003 dash kit, Memphis 6.5” coaxial speakers with separate tweeters in the front doors, a Gemini PMX-7 audio mixer, various switches for lights and speaker selection, LED indicators, and a Stinger volt meter. Also installed is a Compustar alarm/remote start system. Interior bulbs have been upgraded with xenon white bulbs all around. Just behind the front seats is a cloth separator that allows access to the back side of the TV wall, fuses and more. Note: Should you wish to install a cooler / trash compartment for limo use, the front passenger seat can be removed and a sliding cooler can be installed which would be accessible from the rear passenger compartment. The front door windows are tinted.
As we move towards the rear, we get into the heavy customization and fabrication. A 37” TV resides in the front wall and is powered from a Samlex pure sine wave inverter. Three (3) sets of Boston Acoustics SX65 6.5” high end speakers reside on the sides of the TV. The TV panel is wrapped in Katzkin’s Suede. The custom seats were stitched by Todd Wolters at Wolters upholstery, the best in the biz. The seats feature true leather rawhide matched with Katzkin’s Suede. Underneath the seats reside four (4) additional Stinger SP1700 batteries to power the tremendous audio/video system in here. Attached to the batteries is a Stinger SPS80, 80A power supply for charging the system/batteries while the vehicle is off. A SCM power supply controller was added to the SPS80 and the 120V outlet under the vehicle is tied to the SPS80 charger. Throughout the vehicle (floor, doors, roof, and walls) is almost 30 sheets of Stinger Expert Series Roadkill damping material to keep resonances and rattles to a minimum. Stinger fuse blocks, distribution blocks, battery terminals, ring terminals and fuses are used throughout. Approximately 75’ of 1/0 OFC wire along with over 200’ of 4 awg OFC wiring, all from Stinger electronics, supplies power to the system. Over 300’ of Stinger 12 & 14 awg OFC speaker wire runs from the amps to the speakers. All high end Stinger electronics RCA (audio & video signal) cables run throughout the vehicle. Another 400+’ of 18awg control wire is used for lights, switches and more. A PAC Infrared extender allows control of the TV from almost anywhere. Remote mounted switches reside in the side wall to control the rear power windows, lights, and an audio level control for future integration. The ceiling features custom CNC’d Plexiglas panels trimmed with Katzkin’s suede. Nearly 200 LED’s are installed in the ceiling and other areas of the vehicle. The rear doors, side windows and rear windows are all tinted with 5% “limo” tint.
Moving towards the rear of the vehicle, we have (12) Boston Acoustics G3 series 12” woofers located in three custom made sealed enclosures. The bass is incredibly tight and dynamic without nasty distortion. Power for the subwoofers comes from (6) Boston Acoustics GT-2200 amplifiers. Two more pairs of Boston SX65 speakers reside in custom fiberglass enclosures facing out the rear of the vehicle. Power for all the SX65 speakers is supplied by two big Boston Acoustics GT-4100 amplifiers. A Memphis Audio X03 crossover takes care of the processing chores and signal is divided by a custom made signal splitter box. The enclosures are made from a high grade of MDF and three steel plates, one with a custom bend in it, are painted to match the exterior of the vehicle and are placed on top of the boxes for cosmetic integration. The amps are stacked on custom welded brackets and all the pieces in the rear are trimmed in Katzkin’s suede. The rear doors feature custom CNC logos which can be easily replaced to feature your favorite logo should you want to update it. The sound quality of the rear system is amazing. It obviously gets very loud yet stays incredibly clear, something you really need to hear to appreciate.
The full gallery of over sixty photos can be seen at the bottom of this page. The photos seen in the gallery have been taken at different times over the years. To the best of my knowledge, everything listed is fully functional other than some of the LED’s in the ceiling and under the amps are not working. I have supplied MANY photos including the few defects in the paint/body. Overall the vehicle is in excellent condition and could be put to use/driven immediately.
