Chad from Owatonna brought his 2008 Nissan Versa to the vehicle improvement professionals here at Sweet Sounds to get some much-needed enhancements for the safety, security, convenience and sound in his vehicle.
It all starts off with a Alpine double DIN in dash navigation radio. Alpine has long been known for great sound, and the INE-W960 comes through again. The high-voltage preouts run to a pair of Digital Designs amplifiers. The DD A4 amp provides 55 watts RMS into the two pairs of Focal speakers, and the DD M1D provides a clean 1,700 watts of power into the Focal subwoofers.
Chad loves his music clean and crisp (and loud, at times!) and this system provides that in spades. Providing extra juice to the audio system is a Soundquest AGM battery. We also wired everything up with Stinger wiring, our favorite since 1993.
We installed a set of Focal ISS165 components in the factory speaker locations in the front of the Versa and a set of co-axial Focal ISC165’s in the rear. The superb-sounding Focal Flax 12″ woofers in a custom-built ported enclosure use flared end ports for the best sound and fill the low end while retaining the maximum output available from the subs.
Always important to remember is the Boyo backup camera system. Being able to see children and obstacles in your blind spots is a huge benefit of this system, and Sweet Sounds has been installing them for years. Further enhancing the Versa is a ful-blown two-way Compustar paging alarm and remote start combo system. It’s all about keeping thieving hands off Chad’s upgrades and giving him the convenience of warming up his car from a distance during the crazy Minnesota winters.
