Are you wondering what the difference is between a one-way and a two-way remote car starter? At Sweet Sounds, we have a team of experts in this area and would love to explain it.
One-Way Remote Start System
A one-way remote start only transmits data directly from your remote control to the remote start system in your vehicle. The remote start system in the vehicle does not send any information or confirmation back to the remote control to let you know the car has started. This means that you will have to either hear your car start or see the exterior lights turn on when remote started to confirm that it started via your remote control.
Is that a good or a bad thing? Well, it’s not a bad thing, but it’s not as good as it gets, either. These systems work fine while you are near your vehicle or can see it from your location at home, work, etc., but aren’t as ideal for longer distances. Our systems work the same way as a factory-installed keyless entry system, but offer many more options, features, range and – of course – remote car starting. We offer a couple of different one-way remote car starters. With that said, most folks choose a two way remote with confirmation these days.
Two-Way Remote Start System
In simplest terms, a two-way remote start transmits information in both directions between the remote control and the remote start system in the vehicle. This means that your two-way remote control will confirm when the vehicle has started. It also means that you will know that your car started without having to find a window to look outside, walk into the mall parking lot to see your car or leave your child’s sporting event to verify the car has started.
We find this to be a great feature. We have also found that the majority of our clients who have had a remote start in the past choose to purchase a two-way system when it comes time to get a system for new vehicles. We offer several different two-way remote car starter systems, including LED with audible confirmation and digital display LCD with audible confirmation.
Smartphone Options
The newest style of remote start is a smartphone app system. With these systems, we integrate a remote start system to be controlled by your smartphone. A traditional remote control is optional and we also have an optional RFID chip that will automatically unlock your vehicle as you walk up to it. Smartphone systems are compatible with Apple’s iPhone, Android and some Blackberrys.
