Luke recently contacted us regarding some upgrades he was really looking forward to adding to his 2017 Silverado.
First up was getting a serious audio upgrade to the subwoofers. While this particular Silverado came with a factory subwoofer it just wasn’t delivering what Luke desired. So we recommended adding two 12″ Memphis Audio Bass
Reference series drivers powered by a 1,000W Memphis Audio amp. The Bass Reference series woofers are a very dynamic woofer delivering excellent sound quality and the ability to really impress with the low-frequency sound pressure levels.
The woofers were mounted in a “down firing” subwoofer enclosure mounted under the rear seat. The box was sprayed with a bedliner coating by our friends at Line-X in Mankato allowing the box to be banged up against and get wet without any worries to the wooden structure underneath the coating.
Since we retained the factory in-dash stereo, we followed our recommendations HERE and used the Audio Control LC2i with Accu Bass to integrate with the existing audio signal. The result is a subwoofer system that now tracks through the entire
range of the volume knob instead rolling off like the factory woofer. It’s a much more natural sound. In addition, to give Luke more control, we installed the Memphis bass level control knob next to him on the center console for quick
adjustment.
Rounding out the upgrades was a window tint installation using Suntek Carbon series of film. We applied MN legal 50% film on the front windows and darkened up the rear with 20%. The Carbon series of film provides advanced UV
protection and is backed by a nationwide lifetime warranty.
